About This Session

Become familiar with core and common factors associated with evidence-based psychotherapy approaches including Prolonged Exposure, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Written Exposure Therapy. Core elements will include the activation of traumatic memories, addressing meaning associated with trauma, and confronting avoidance (imaginal and in vivo). This seminar will include a summary overview of clinical practice guidelines from the American Psychological Association and the Veteran’s Administration/Department of Defense. Case studies and real-time demonstrations will be offered. Insights will be provided regarding the strengths and limitations of each psychotherapy approach based on 10+ years of clinical experience using these modalities.

About Your Instructor

Dr. Adam Dell is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology and currently serves as the Director of Emotional Wellbeing at the Notre Dame Wellness Center. Dr. Dell received his Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Master of Arts degree in Interpersonal Relations at Grace College, and his Doctor of Psychology degree from Indiana State University. He accomplished a residency program at JBSA-Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and served 6+ years as an active duty psychologist for the US Air Force including one overseas deployment. He garnered clinical experience in private practice and civilian hospital settings. Dr. Dell and his wife, Janine, were foster parents in 3 states over the past decade. Additionally, after years of infertility, they joyfully welcomed their daughters into their family in 2019 & 2023. Dr. Dell enjoys teaching and currently serves as an Adjunct faculty member for the graduate counseling programs at Wheaton College & Colorado State University.
