Secondary trauma is a type of emotional pain that can affect individuals who work closely with those who have experienced trauma. This trauma can have a profound impact on caregivers, first responders, medical professionals, and other helping professionals. This breakout aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of secondary trauma and its effects, including burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. It will also offer practical strategies for preventing and managing the effects of secondary trauma, including self-care techniques, organizational support, and building resilience. By gaining a deeper understanding of secondary trauma and its impact, attendees will be better equipped to support themselves and others in their work.

About Tyler

Tyler Zielasko earned his bachelors and Masters degrees from Grace College. He has worked in a variety of counseling and ministry settings over the past 20 years. He currently is an owner/co-founder of Human Wellness Collective, a private counseling practice in Warsaw Indiana, that focuses on integrative and functional wellness for the whole human. Tyler has been married to his wife Kari for 20 years, and they have 5 adopted children.

Mark holds a master's degree in counseling from Grace College and Seminary and is a licensed mental health counselor. Moreover, he is a certified professional coach in Leadership and Well-being through the globally recognized Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). As the owner of two private practices, Mitchell Counseling and KOA Coaching and Consulting, Mark has dedicated himself to helping individuals and organizations thrive. Beyond his professional endeavors, he and his wife, Jennifer, lead marriage classes, seminars, and retreats, drawing from their own experiences. Mark and Jennifer are currently navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood with their two teenagers. Mark's commitment to empowering others and his personal journey make him a compelling catalyst for positive change.
